The days of awe, and the journey to the Feast of Tabernacles has begun. Join us as we explore the meaning of this fall festival season through the Psalms
The Psalms of Ascent were sung as people traveled to Jerusalem for the Feast of Tabernacles — Succoth.
Day 1 — Psalm 120
David is pleading with God for relief from his lying and aggressive enemies. We live in a time not unlike David’s, when our freedom to worship God unhindered is being undermined and people pretend they want peace, when in reality their actions shout out that they want war.
This Psalm of ascent — Psalm 120 — was traditionally recited on the Feast of Trumpets. It is a time that looks forward to the Lord’s intervention into human affairs. He will protect and nurture those who trust him, those who love peace and righteousness. But the Lord, will execute judgement on those who love war, and are guilty of destroying the earth and its inhabitants.
“In my distress I cried to the Lord, And He heard me. Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips And from a deceitful tongue. What shall be given to you, Or what shall be done to you, You false tongue? Sharp arrows of the warrior, With coals of the broom tree! Woe is me, that I dwell in Meshech, That I dwell among the tents of Kedar! My soul has dwelt too long With one who hates peace. I am for peace; But when I speak, they are for war.”

The bible teaches an amazing truth that the Creator, The Word, became a man and in so doing has made it possible for his followers to have a hope of eternal life with him.
Yet there are many in the world of religion that deny this basic teaching of scripture and instead , like the Pharisees of Jesus day, they have set up their own religious standards.
God on the other had has told us that he is looking for justice, loving kindness, and humility in walking with him. So what does it mean to “walk with God?” How do we walk with anyone?
The basics should be obvious. We must agree to walk to together, we must have the same destination in mind, and we must walk at the same pace being considerate of each other.
But beyond these rudimentary principles God gives us what he expects of those who walk with him. More

What is meant by “Appointed Times?”
God is a master of time. He is the Creator of time and seasons. And God intervenes in history and acts at just the right time. Even the demons when speaking to Jesus acknowledged that their time for judgment had not yet come. But, it would come at the appropriate time. Jesus, as he saw the fall festival approaching, urged his family to go up to keep the feast at the appointed time. But he would not go up with them just then. He was waiting until the time was right. Then he would also go up and keep the Feast of Tabernacles, one of God’s appointed times. From the beginning of creation, God had established the heavenly lights to proclaim the seasons, and herald the appointed times. Times that God established as Holy Days and festival seasons. So how do we know when these times occur? More
Comments Off on Biblical Festivals: Which Holy Days should Christians value?, Sermons and Media, Videos, by CGP.
This year – 2025 – the fall Holy Days begin with the Feast of Trumpets on the 1st of Tishri which is Tuesday, September 23 2025. This year we begin the celebration of this Holy Day at sunset on Monday, September 22 2025. Join us as we rejoice in God’s feast days.
Here is a message that speaks to our time and the meaning of God’s appointed times as revealed in the scriptures.
Why would Christians observe festivals that would seem to be obscure Jewish Holy Days to the mainstream of Christianity? Would it surprise you to know that the human genome, and our purpose in living are intricately connected to the Holy times that God set apart in scripture? What are the biblical festivals that the apostles and the early church observed and why did they observe them? Jeff Patton searches the scriptures for the answers to these important questions, and their relevance to our worship today.
Chilean miner’s survived their ordeal 700 metres below the surface for months before they were rescued. Their final release from the collapsed mine happened 25 years ago in October 2010. Jeff Patton relates the qualities that allowed for their survival, to that of the Christian journey, and the qualities we need to serve and survive. It is a powerful story of leadership, sacrifice, service and survival.

The fast on the Day of Atonement is rich with meaning for the Christian, as it points us to the sacrifice of Christ as a propitiation for our sins, and the sins of all people. As we afflict our souls through fasting we gain a deeper understanding of our need for God, and his plan to forgive our sins so we might live in covenant with Him. We also anticipate that time of peace when the adversary will no longer influence humanity.
A jubilee will begin — the restoration of the inheritance to the people of God.
Days of Awe have historically been considered as a time of judgment, the time between the Feast of Trumpets, Yom Teruah, and the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur. During this time God has a message for the physical people, the descendants of Israel, a message of repentance and reconciliation. For the Christian the message gains a deeper significance as we move beyond repentance to embrace the goal of becoming the telleion man (or woman). Jeff Patton will shed light on this goal and our spiritual journey.

For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. Therefore, a Sabbath rest remains for God’s people. 10 For the person who has entered His rest has rested from his own works, just as God did from His. Let us then make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall into the same pattern of disobedience. Hebrews 4:8-11
From the beginning, God created man to have a relationship with Him. The Sabbath was that weekly opportunity to commune with God, that God established at the foundation of the world and preserved through the millennia. It looks back to creation and deliverance from Egypt, and it looks forward to the ultimate rest of God and His people in the New Heavens and New Earth. It is a weekly reminder to all who worship the Creator of His majesty, loyalty, loving kindness, and life-giving power. We can find rest and peace in God, on God’s Sabbath day.
Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy. Sound familiar? It should ring a bell. God wants to go on a date with you at the end of the week, are you going to stand God up? Jeff Patton discusses the fourth commandment, and why it is so important for a Christian to remember. More

The beginning of the fall festival season and the final harvest of ingathering is heralded by the blowing of trumpets. This Holy Day has multiple historic and prophetic meanings. This holy time is the beginning of the ten days of national repentance and reconciliation called the Days of Awe that are completed on the Day of Atonement. It begins the 15 day ascent to Jerusalem, memorialized in the Psalms of Ascent, as the people journeyed up to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles (Succoth). And it looks forward to the coming of the Messiah, to destroy those who destroy the earth and to bring peace and justice to all who look longingly for His return.
Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. 25 You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord.’” Leviticus 23
What message does the Holy Day named, Yom teruah, or Yom ha din, or Rosh Hashana have for Christians in the 21st century? Jeff Patton takes a journey through scripture to bring to light the many facets of the Feast of Trumpets, the first day of the seventh month on God’s calendar. Are you alert and aware of the trumpet calls in your life?
